Kidney Health Week -- 2018

Kidney Health Week, Sunday 4 March to Saturday 10 March, is designed to raise awareness of a disease that affects at least 1.7 million Australians. Every day, 53 people in Australia die with chronic kidney disease. It is a highly undiagnosed condition; most are tragically unaware they are affected until it's too late. In fact 90% of kidney function can be lost without experiencing any symptoms.

That's why, this Kidney Health Week, we're opening everyone's eyes to kidney disease and raising awareness of the alarming fact that one in three people living in Australia is at increased risk.

Take the Kidney Risk Test now, then share it with your family, friends and colleagues.

The number of Australians receiving kidney replacement therapy (transplantation or dialysis) is growing at about 4% per year and more attention is needed to address this costly public health problem. Early detection and appropriate treatment may slow progression of kidney disease in as many as 50 per cent of cases.

World Kidney Day (WKD) -- 2018

World Kidney Day is an annual campaign to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys. As the name suggests, World Kidney Day is a global campaign to raise awareness and bring attention to prevention and early detection of kidney disease. An estimated 1.7 million Australians are affected - 90% of whom don't know they have it. Mortality associated with many chronic diseases including some cancers is stable and in some cases declining, two Australians continue to die every hour with kidney related disease.
